Mission Objective

This page is under construction

A Mission Objective is a specific goal or target that a party aims to achieve, and for which the existence and use of DPs are crucial. A mission objective might refer to a legally mandated requirement (like tracking a CO2 footprint), a business goal (such as providing detailed product history), or a technical function (like data security).

A functional blueprint is created and deployed to realize this mission objective.

Mission objectives serve as guiding pillars within the DP system, as they are born out of the system's central purpose, be it to enhance transparency, improve product traceability, reduce fraud, contribute to environmental sustainability, or any other core intent that the system is built to address. These objectives often originate from a blend of legal requirements, ethical considerations, business necessities, and technical feasibilities. They are central to the design, operation, and evaluation of the DP system.

Each DP is equipped to fulfill certain mission objectives that are, in essence, its raison d'être. For instance, a DPP) for a battery might have a mission objective of providing complete and accurate information about the battery's life cycle, including its manufacturing, ownership history, service records, and end-of-life details. This mission objective could help fulfill larger societal goals like promoting transparency in used battery refurbishing or facilitating environmentally friendly disposal of old batteries.

The mission objectives are not just confined to the DP itself but extend to the DP system as a whole. For example, a key mission objective could be to ensure secure and privacy-preserving access to the DPs, which influences the system's access control policies, encryption mechanisms, and data privacy practices.

In terms of governance, mission objectives form the cornerstone of defining roles, rights, and duties within the DP ecosystem. They shape the functional blueprint, guiding which scripts are necessary and how policies are defined. They provide the framework for aligning the actions of DP Creators, DP Operators, DP Owners, and other stakeholders. By laying out what the system is set to achieve, they help stakeholders understand their part in realizing these objectives and how their actions contribute to the broader purpose.

Mission objectives are also key in evaluating the success and efficacy of the DP system. By defining what the system aims to achieve, they provide measurable goals that can be used to assess system performance, guide improvements, and demonstrate value to stakeholders.

In sum, mission objectives in the DP system are not mere guideposts but formative elements that shape the system's structure, function, governance, and performance evaluation.
