Stakeholders (and Their Concerns)

This page is under construction

Editor's note

The list of (primary) stakeholders is an initial draft, to get a first idea. It depends on the scoping of the DP system whether or not we need other (more governance-related) stakeholders as well. Also, we may want to make a proper distinction between stakeholders and roles (or role-players).

The following are the primary stakeholders involved in the DP system:

  1. DP Creator (Manufacturer): The party responsible for creating a DP. This involves setting up the initial state of the DP with the default set of scripts, policies, and data as specified by the rules of the governing framework.

  2. DP Operator (Host): The party that is responsible for ensuring the DP operates as expected. The DP Operator manages the infrastructure on which the DP runs, oversees the maintenance and updates of the DP, and ensures the reliability and availability of the DP's services.

  3. DP Owner (Controller): The party that owns a particular DP. They are responsible for deciding the purposes for which the DP can be used, managing access control to the DP's data and services, and accountable for the use of the DP.

  4. DP User: The actor that uses a DP for various purposes. This could include consumers, businesses, or any other actors that interact with a DP for retrieving or updating data, or executing scripts.

  5. Consortium Members: A group of parties that form a collective to achieve a mission objective, e.g., members working towards tracking CO2 footprints of a product. They are authorized to execute specific scripts on the DP according to their role in the consortium.

  6. Regulatory Body: The party, that can be a government but also a non-government organization, that is responsible for setting standards, rules, or laws that the DP system must comply with. They oversee and enforce compliance of the DP system with these regulatory requirements.

  7. System Architects and Developers: The persons that are responsible for designing and building (parts of) the DP system according to the requirements and constraints outlined in this architecture description document.

  8. System Administrators and Operators: The individuals that are responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining the IT components of a DP system, including managing system configurations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system performance and reliability.

  9. End Users: These are parties that utilize the data or services provided by a DP. They might interact with a DP through various interfaces such as user interfaces or application programming interfaces.
